I wanted something that could convert to a double when I needed it to, rather than have both seats all the time. It’s great for all-terrain and has been on many muddy forest walks. The basket is huge and it's a very sturdy buggy that never tips up. I also like how the handlebar can extend up, which is good for when the toddler's on the buggy board. I also like that I can use it as a travel system and put the car seat on it if I just want to nip into a shop. The only thing I would say is it is quite heavy when both kids are in it... and it does take a lot of space up in the boot." We tested the silver and, after a week covering around 10 miles, the wheels were still fully inflated and in good condition, and the rest of the pram looked as good as new. Is the Mountain Buggy Duet V3 good value for money? I chose it because I wanted my children so they could both see out. It fits through doorways fine. I love that I can take it on any terrain. It is much better off-road than my single one, so it's opened up more walks for us. It feels lovely to push and it fits in the boot of my small car. It’s very practical. It is a good price, too." Our tester loved how well the Duet fit into all aspects of her life. One of the pram’s selling points is how slim it is compared to other side-by-side buggies. Measuring just 65cm, it’s the same width as a single buggy and one of the most compact side-by-sides on the market. To ensure the products were safe, Gemma chatted to Philip LeShirley, Product Safety Advisor at The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), who advised what to look for when purchasing a pram to ensure it’s safe to use.

Age range: Newborn to 4 years | Maximum load: 18kg in each seat; 9kg per seat in newborn mode (lie-flat) | Weight: 15kg | Dimensions: 32 × 65 × 89cm (folded); 114 × 65 × 108.5cm (unfolded) | Travel system-compatible: Yes | Orientation: Side by side What we love A double version of the Thule Urban Glide 2, this specialist side-by-side buggy is designed with active parents in mind. The best double buggy is the Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2. A compact and versatile side-by-side pram, it’s suitable for twins or siblings of different ages and can take up to two seats, carrycots or car seats. It has an easy one-handed fold mechanism, a big storage basket and four big tyres to make it a great all-rounder for any terrain. Start by thinking about what type of double buggy you need for your family. This will depend on your lifestyle, who will be using the pushchair and what you will be using it for. Generally, there are three different types of double buggy: Side-by-side double buggy Great for off-roading and trails, fits through any standard doorway, so it’s been fine in shops or on the train. Folds pretty flat. Very comfy to push. Good resale value! We’ve had ours three years and still going strong!" The padded seats on the Duet are just 28cm wide, but Liz’s four-year-old felt very comfortable and had plenty of space despite being at the upper end of the buggy's weight limit. The seats come with a bumper bar, which is easy to unclip and swing out of the way when getting children in or out, and a leg rest that can be extended with one hand. The brake is much easier to disengage, however, and requires a light action using the top of your foot, which can be accomplished in any type of footwear.

The most compact, fully featured, all-terrain side-by-side buggy in the market that is the same width as a single buggy; duet™ is the ultimate ride for siblings or twins, from newborn to toddler, offering innovation like no other. Side-by-side double buggies tend to be wider than the average pram so may not be suitable for public transport or small car boots. They often have roomy storage baskets though and can be folded easily, but if you have an older child who often wants to walk, the second seat will sit empty. Most are suitable from birth or you may be able to attach an infant carrycot or car seat. Tandem (inline) double buggy The Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 is the latest update on the Duet, a side-by-side double buggy that can initially be bought as a single to later grow with your family.Ideal for twins or children of different ages who like to interact with one another, although most designs also allow you to recline the seats independently. Despite the stiffness, the footbrake feels very secure and holds the pram on both flat ground and hills with or without children in the seats – and even when loaded with bags. Day-to-day usage: we ensured the pram was tested on all kinds of terrain looking at how the wheels performed, how easy it was to push, turn, fit through doorways and lift over kerbs or bumps. We also tested the fold mechanism and looked at where it could be stored. We carried out a storage basket test and assessed the seats, such as the recline option and whether you can add a carrycot or car seat. We also tested the effectiveness of the hood and rain cover. A double buggy that caters for all your family’s needs, the Mountain Buggy Duet V3.2 can easily nip around supermarket aisles and fit through doorways while still being spacious enough for your child to rest and grow comfortably.

Without the Mountain Buggy carrycot, cocoon or car seat, we couldn’t test the stability of the pram in all its potential configurations, but its robustness in what is likely to be its most used form was something of a marvel. What about the brakes?Gemma ended up with a list of almost 30 products which she whittled down to 13 to put to the test, covering a range of needs, lifestyles, brands and budgets. The folding mechanism is fairly simple to get to grips with and, when folded, the buggy is compact and easy to store, both in a car boot and at home. The hoods are easy to pull in and out though and each has a clear peek-a-boo window to make it easier to interact with your children when on the move. Is there a rain cover?

Unfortunately you won’t find a rain cover inside (more on that below), which is one of the main downsides to this buggy and one that may be a deal-breaker for some parents.
