I connected the X3 to a motorbike with the optional Motorcycle Kit and Selfie Stick, and even with our sports bike’s clip-on handlebars, I was able to find a few mounting points. Auto Frame finds the best parts of your 360° videos for you, giving you a range of reframed clips to choose from. Editing wizzes can do a lot with 360 footage, particularly with the included software, and HDR processing is a boon for picture quality in mixed light.

It’s not helpful in a more tool-like gadget such as this, but may change over the weeks as the battery settles (and more firmware updates arrive). X3 will continually record video but only save the final minutes according to your set interval, saving precious space on your memory card. You do need to manually max out the brightness to make it hold up in bright sunlight, but it gets roughly as bright as the GoPro Max’s own. It’s still far lighter and more practical than the One RS 1-inch, though, and the bigger case means there’s a larger 1,800mAh battery inside.It comes with a significantly larger touchscreen, an optimised operating concept and a more powerful battery. This doesn’t extend run time much but it keeps it roughly the same and, given the larger display, that’s all you need. When in traffic I turned the camera off, but I was easily able to boot it up at the lights whenever a more interesting, clearer stretch of tarmac appeared before me. A firmware update while I was writing this review, however, solved this problem and, by the time I had come to publish, the X3 was feeling as snappy and responsive as its predecessor. The X3's dual lenses capture everything around the camera, and a waterproof design makes it ready for adventures.
