We recently covered the wedding of Woody & Kacey just outside Abergavenny at the beautiful St Teilos church, then the park hotel in Pandy. Having met the bride and groom a few years ago when they were looking for a wedding photographer abergavenny, it was lovely they we have captured family images for them in the past and really got to know them. It made getting the wedding photos even easier than it would have been, and also meant they were much more relaxed having known my wedding photographer style for some time.
The day started with bridal prep at the brides mams house, which acted as the perfect backdrop for capturing images of the wedding bouquet, wedding shoes, and wedding dress. We got some beautiful shots of the wedding dress hun from a light in her nans room, and some fantastic shots of the wedding shoes and bouquet in the gardens. Once the bride and bridesmaids were ready, we got some shots in the windows (we love using natural light!) before having some fun shots of the girls leaving the house.
meanwhile, at the church our second wedding photographer was capturing images of the groom and groomsmen. you cant replicate that nervous look in the eye of the groom after the service, so we love this option as it really does capture the moment well. Kacey arrived in style in her uncles M3 BMW sports car, and looked simply beautiful walking down the aisle with father of the bride Tim.
Photography is quite strict at this church, but having worked with the vicar before, he knows he can trust us to be very un-intrusive and not distract him or the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony.
After the service we stopped off at a location i have used many times before for my landscape work, but never for bride and grooms to get formal wedding photography shots. we didnt have long to set up our professional lighting but we managed to get it done with seconds to spare of the bride and groom arriving in the M3, we did hear them before we saw them!
luckily the bride and groom trusted us to get the best possible images for them…and this did involve me having to ask the bride to walk through a bit of corn to get a perfect shot of the Skirrid mountain in the background, before turning them to get my favourite single tree in to, and as the M3 was there we also killed two birds with one stone and got the formal shots of the wedding car on the long driveway with the tree AND the Skirrid mountain 🙂
Once at the park hotel (a hotel we know like the back of our hands…we did get married there ourselves!!) we commenced with the big group shots and finished off all the formal shots. we like to get this done as soon as possible to keep everyone together and make sure we have our check lists completed before the food.
The bride and groom were nice enough to not only feed us, but put us on the tables with their guests. Its so nice being able to keep being part of the big day and join in the fun. The meal was stunning once again at the Park hotel, we are so proud to be a recommend wedding photographer park hotel Abergavenny.
As we had completed all the formal shots before the wedding breakfast, it allowed us to capture some more natural shots of guests in the evening, but also to get up our professional lighting in the grounds and take portraits of guest who would like family photos, and images with the bride and groom (and certain bridesmaids and army men!)
Woody & Kacey had gone for an all day package, so we finished after the last dance, which there one year old daughter Mia joined in for half way through which was beautiful 🙂
