If you’re looking to use a Torx bit on a hex screw head, you’re going to have a bad time. The tips of Torx bits are quite fragile, and they’re not meant to fit snugly inside of a hex screw head. As a result, you’re likely to break your Torx wrenches on a hex screw head. If the screw is difficult to remove, try heating the bit with a lighter before attempting to remove it.

Our car torx screws are universal and can be used on any car. They are made of high quality stainless steel and are very durable. Westfield Fasteners Limited is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 07215583. I bought this product recently from SF, naively thinking the head was compatible with Philips / Posidriv.Torx screws are becoming increasingly popular in many industries due to their superior grip and resistance to stripping. However, because they require a special tool for installation and removal, they can be somewhat difficult to work with if you’re not familiar with them. Here are a few tips on how to use Torx screws: Look at the screw head and there will be small additional cuts between each of the four main arms on a Pz, then look at the driver and similarly there are extra small lobes between the main four. A decent set of Pz bits will tend to have 1xPz1, 1xPz3 and 3xPz2. I get through Pz2s, very occasionally a Pz1 and am more likely to lose a Pz3 than wear it out or break it. I have never had to replace a Pz4. A T30 screwdriver is a type of screwdriver that is used to drive in screws that have a T30 head. What size is a T30 screw? Well, now having got myself a goodish T30 screwdriver, and with the aforementioned T30 screws, I can now see just how solid they are, so can see why they might be popular. (Will be getting myself some Torx bits in due course).

Thanks again Flybynight. Well, in my researches, I've now learned about JIS, Japanese Industry Standard and their improved version of Phillips. See:The Torx size is distinguished using a T before the number. The number is a point-to-point dimension that runs from T1 to T100. The most common sizes are T10, T15, and T25, but there are many specialized sizes, including T47 and T5. I've just been educating myself via one of the "Gosforth Handyman"'s Youtube videos on screw types, and he says he uses Pozidrive most of the time, but sometimes Torxx, the disadvantage of the latter being that you have to use the exact bit size for the screw, whereas with Pozi you can get away with a Poz #2 for most screw sizes. Make sure you have the right tool. Torx screws require a special tool called a Torx bit. You can usually find these at your local hardware store. Maybe I just haven't tried it with the right size of driver, but it would be good to know what it is supposed to be.
