We recently attended the wedding of Tom & Laura at the beautiful setting of Clearwell castle in the forest of dean, Gloucestershire. Having met the bride and groom a few years ago when they were looking for a wedding photographer clearwell castle, we were thrilled to bits to be invited to capture the day, with so much planned and a stunning bride and groom, it was going to be one of the most exciting weddings we had been to!
Matt & Dan arrived early in the morning for groom and bridal prep images. We had lots of fun capturing the ladies getting ready, reading letters to the bride and having a great giggle. Dan had fun with the groomsmen although a last minute haircut due to antics the night before might have added to the stress levels a little bit!
Once Laura was finished having her hair and makeup applied, and her beautiful wedding dress was on, we got a few shots of her in the bridal suit at Clearwell castle before making her way down the grand staircase. Such a beautiful bride it made it really easy for us to capture stunning bridal portraits as she made her way down.
The bridesmaids led the way down the aisle, with a few tears and lots of smiles as Laura walked in through the doors. She had threatened to walk back and do it again if Tom didnt cry, but i think the smile on his face was just as good! The service itself was shot but wonderful, including readings from the bridesmaids which will make me giggle every time i think about it (you know what you were thinking Ellie and Katie!!!)
Straight after the service we gathered all the guests on the amazing entrance staircase to the castle for the group shots. Usually a bit stressful, all the guests were up for some fun and we got some lovely photos of everyone that will give the bride and groom a wonderful reminded of who was at the wedding for the rest of there lives. We also took a few smaller group shots before the fun started….the bride and groom formal shots!
The grounds at Clearwell castle are pretty unique. As its not open to the public, they are maintained to a high level, giving a wonderful backdrop for a wedding, and when you mix a couple like Tom & Laura into it, well, the recipe just leads to beautiful shots! We took the bride and groom on a walk around the grounds, making sure we left them alone on walks so they can enjoy those fresh feelings of just been married, without a photographer listening in! This is one part of the day i try to encourage all photographers to do, its not easy but does lead to some beautiful natural walking shots as they inevitably hold hands and share smiles.
The evening was just as much fun as the rest of the day, with one of the best first dances (the lift and spins were AMAZING!!!) and after keeping a close eye on the sky, Matt asked the bride and groom out for one last time to capture the beautiful sunset they had been blessed with. What we weren’t expecting is a cartwheel off both of them just as the sun was setting, once again a memory that will make me giggle until my last breath!
The last shot of the day was taken at just after 10pm, as a special request of the bride. Now, this is where having a professional photographer comes into its own, this shot was taken in PITCH BLACK light…with that i hope you have enjoyed reading this blog on Tom & Laura’s special day, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did taking the photos!
Tom & Laura, a perfect couple who we have loved every moment with, from the first meeting, funny whatsapp messages to the day itself, even Laura’s funny message of a flashback of the cartwheel a few days after! We wish you a life time of happiness together, and cant wait to see you again soon to experience the day all over again when you come to view the final images.
We wish you all the best
Matt & the team.
what the bride and groom said…
“We can’t thank Matt & Dan enough for capturing so many special moments of our wedding day. Right from the start we was put at ease and never felt pressured to have photos taken. We enjoyed their company and Tom has mentioned so many times how it was a pleasure to have you both there; he felt it was like having one of his mates next to him giving him advice throughout the day when needed and having a laugh. We can’t wait to see the finished photos as we know they’ll be everything we dreamed of and more. We also want to mention how nice it was that we were given time on our own throughout whilst walking to different locations for photos. We would highly recommend Treasured photography and I can’t wait to see what magical photos are captured at my cousins wedding next year!”
