In addition, Panorama P1 also has 20 preset locations for use in Internal mode with each preset storing P1's controller assignments for generic DAW or MIDI hardware control. Alternatively, if you want to learn about scales, this can also act as a great tool as the screen displays information on each of the notes in the selected scale. I’ve tried a number of these over the years but, as yet, never quite found something that really matched both my needs and my budget. When the Panorama P1 is in transport mode, the TFT screen gives a clear reading of song position, left and right locators and tempo.

Up to 8 keystroke commands can be sent to a DAW at a push of just one button giving you access to DAW functions and menus not normally available via MIDI. Must admit, I'm finding it difficult to find good youtube videos on using the P1 for mixing, where Softube does a great job of showing you their unit in action and how it makes mixing easier. I find that the faders are quite smooth as compare to others I have tried including the motorized types. Interestingly, these do not appear to be the same parameters as the first eight defined within the VSTi’s own Remote Device Panel, so I’m not certain where the assignments are derived from. This is useful if, for example, you want to lock the P1 on an effects processor while playing an instrument that is being processed through that effect.I imagine that most people will use the pads to trigger samples and perform percussive parts in an MPC-sampler kind of way and so these people will be extremely happy to learn that setting up your pads is quick and easy. Top tip, as soon as you get one just cut one of those screen protectors for a phone ect and place over the screen it will keep it pristine and you can always swap it for a nice new one.

Press Toggle/View to view their assignments – and press one more time to view the encoder assignments again. to be honest I just installed the last “software/driver” avaiable for the P6 and the Integrationfiles on a new and clean Windows 11 Pro install and it works fine in Cubase 12…all screens on th P6 are avaiable and respond like they should do. The purpose of the multiple MIDI ports that appear after the installation process, for example, could be better explained. I like my controls to feel solid, so that it feels like I'm actually doing something when I adjust them.If you're working with a project that requires more than 12 pads then you will be pleased to know that you can virtually increase them with banks. Panorama follows track selection and you can select tracks and advance tracks by banks of 8 with the controller. The P1, for example, would be a superb addition to a computer-based set-up for anyone who already owns a controller keyboard but wants more hands-on controls or a constant mixer controller. The first thing to be aware of is that any controller that you have connected to your computer can only 'see' what your DAW 'sees'. Factory patches for most of the popular instrument plugins are instantly available with minimum setup.

For Bitwig Studio, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Reaper, Reason ans Studio One users, Panorama is a dream come true. Build quality is not the best maybe, the fades feel a bit flimsy and as other's noted knobs and buttons are hard to see in low light.

The screen on the Panorama will show a visual display of your current bank of faders, with a white mark on each to indicate the actual value of the parameter in the software. So I already have custom plugin/vst control with the Panorama but you advance through each plugin in the chain. If you're lacking musical inspiration, just select a sound on your computer, hit a few pads in your chosen scale and hopefully your jamming will result in something pleasing that you can use in a song. If you're using either Reason or Cubase and you need a MIDI controller then I would definitely recommend a Panorama.
