The Beach has turned into a killing ground as Aguni and his men use the witch-hunt game as an excuse to take out everyone in sight. on the day that arisu wishes he could be anywhere but in his own life, where he is constantly compared - and found lesser - to his younger brother, the three friends witness strange fireworks in the sky. So the first game is the team having to read their fortunes at a shrine before the lanterns go out, and the second is a game of Tag - where the person who is “it” happens to be a serial killer wearing a horse mask and carrying a submachine gun!

Alice in Borderland, Vol. 1: (Alice in Borderland 1) by Haro

Not that that really matters either - I wasn’t hoping to read a modern manga retelling of that story anyway, and there are other books to come so maybe it becomes clearer as the series progresses. Arisu and his friends must race to understand the logic behind the game and identify the real witch before they join the growing pile of Aguni’s victims! A series like Gantz, for example, delved too deeply into the edge-lord territory of hateful brooding for the sake of it. Wandering the eerie city, they stumble across a brightly lit area with food and working toilets - and are trapped. The story is way more intriguing than I though and look solidly build, of course a series like that is, for me at least, in good part about the why, so the ending, when it will come, could play a major role in my final appreciation.Along with his friends, the goofball Chota and juvenile delinquent Karube, the three of them spend their time drinking, getting into typical schoolboy trouble and sometimes pondering what to do with their lives next.

En cuanto a la trama, es adictiva, sorprendente, trepidante y muy intensa, ojito porque es violenta para dar y regalar, y tiene escenas muy desagradables, así que atentos a los "trigger warnings". It is also refreshing to see a manga about the scary situation of survival not fall into the morass of absolute hopelessness and nihilism, despite starting the story off with such themes. The Tag half of the book was my favourite - it was genuinely riveting and fun to watch, with different players attempting different strategies and Aso throwing in one twist after another right to the very end. The opening can be slow, and some of the faces are a little wonky, but once it gets going it's well worth the adventure.

ABDULRAZAK GURNAH, Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, 2021 “A thrilling and urgently necessary read at a time of social division and agonised questions about Britain’s land and soul; questions about who belongs in Britain, and which world community Britain itself belongs to. To stay alive, they need to compete regularly with and against the other unwilling inhabitants in games with life or death consequences. With such hits as Squid Gamemaking the rounds on Netflix, it is no surprise fans of the genre are hungry for more. Sin embargo está muy bien ambientada y en este tomo la segunda prueba es brutal y consiguió pegarme al libro.

As he struggles to exist in a world that can't be bothered with him, Ryohei feels like everything would be better if he were anywhere else. By avoiding the pitfall of making the main character too broody to the point of tedium, as is familiar with some coming-of-age stories, fans can get straight to why they would pick up such a manga in the first place: the nail-biting, tension-inducing death games. But as a first volume, it was entertaining, intriguing, with good action, good characters as well and the art is also quite nice. It’s a short-lived victory, however, as they discover that winning only earns them a few days’ grace period. As he struggles to exist in a world that cant be bothered with him, Ryohei feels like everything would be better if he were anywhere else.
