Even though the headband is plastic, the headphones don’t feel poorly made or like they’ll break easily. I don’t mean to suggest that this is intentionally misleading, but it has the potential to confuse consumers, especially given that the name ‘Athena’ is featured prominently in the centre of the image.

Athena’s bass is also great in micro stuff -- nothing to complain about articulation, delinearation, or texture. They do not have a massive soundstage, they do not extract every little nuance, but they do have envelopment and engagement.But what’s different with the Athena is that the whole “repositioning” thing is done convincingly and actually helps me pick up details better in the wider spectrum, and the overall harmonic level in the reproduction is even higher. It's also not overly "airy" but I believe that to be more towards it being a semi-closed listen anyway. Athena pairs nicely with virtually all sources and is not super highly impacted by the source quality, they will sound just nice out of most sources, being a very detailed, clean and warm sounding headphone, with a large bass, clean presentation, dynamic and punchy midrange with superb resolution, and a clean, sparkly, airy treble. Most of its headphones have utilized dynamic drivers, and the Athena follows suit, but it applies a unique material composition with the drivers to deliver its sonic signature.

But I have always wanted to hear another track with Athena as much as I did with the stable references.I won’t say that Athena is as capable as my multi-grand references (Stealth+Susvara) -- because it’s not. It’s reflective, which looks very nice, but is also a fingerprint magnet, so take care with how you handle them.

Depending on headphone positioning, your own Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF), and/or variation in headphone units, you may or may not detect the same peaks or dips.
