In early 2019, Pitch Black, along with many other underperforming flavors (namely Real Sugar, Diet Code Red, Citrus Cherry, White Out, Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew, and Caffeine-Free Diet Mountain Dew), were discontinued in most regions. In 2013, Pitch Black was released in Malaysia alongside LiveWire by Etika Holdings, the license holder for Pepsi products. In May 2019, it released in Thornton's gas station locations, and like any other Freeze/Slurpee release, it was discontinued a few months after its release.
