About this deal

Not too sure how to describe this book, other than the fact that this is a unique book, a plot which I won’t forget. There’s a lot of character build up and scene setting at the start so it did take me a while to understand where the story was going, but I found Cleo such an original and intriguing character that I was absolutely hooked by her story.

Despite all of this, the pacing of the story did throw me off a bit as it didn't really hook me until a good half way through and because of this it made the big twists, turns and ending feel quite rushed. This is another winner from a very talented author and someone whose books I will always want to read.

Nevertheless I enjoyed it and will be reading more of her books now, starting with the one I already own. The complex characters we follow in her latest novel centre on Cleo Forsum Pryce who we first meet in the present day when she is charged with attempted murder.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Forming the most gripping and satisfying read, My Other Husband takes you into the heart of domestic life and shatters it piece by piece. Nigerian food makes me feel nostalgic and reminds me of when I lived with my grandmother and how close I was to the authentic street food in Lagos. I won’t say any more as I don’t want to put spoilers in this review but trust me, this is such a unique story – I haven’t read a thriller with something similar, so good! As the reader gets to know more about modern-day Cleo, we are also taken back twenty-five years to when Cleo was a university student.

Hello, my name's Dorothy Koomson and I'll try to make this bit that's all about me as interesting as possible. Usually, this would be a positive for me as I prefer to be shocked than for a story to go down the obvious route, but I did feel slightly let down when a new twist came into play. Dorothy Koomson has always been one of my favourite authors - I have absolutely loved every single one I have read, and this one didn't disappoint.

I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nail, troubled many times as certain revelations took place. I certainly couldn’t predict how the story would eventually play out, anyway, and it constantly took me by surprise, so this was such a great reading experience for me overall. Dorothy Koomson always knows how to pull her readers into a storyline and keep you completely wrapped up in the protagonist’s lives. There is a split timeline so in the present, Cleo is an author – her book, The Baking Detective, is being adapted into a successful TV series and she’s working on the scripts. Why has she told the TV company that no more shows will be made, and why on earth is she divorcing Wallace?
