However I should be clear that at that time I was in a different state of mind on how I approached my photography. The positives far outweigh any issues I might have despite this particular issue receiving so much of my attention. On my small point-and-shoots, I’ve almost always used Priority because I could see the picture I was going to there wasn’t much shallow depth of field to worry about.

The X-E2 is a fine camera regardless of the way you want to use it, and just may be one of the very best bargains as a digital camera out there. Once you get your X-E2 set up, it becomes an intuitive, fluid, and fun camera for making images the old fashioned way. It has a digital split image simulation in the viewfinder that I find not only mimics the feel and challenge of an optical rangefinder system (almost to a tee), but in some ways surpasses the capability and effectiveness of that optical system. One area in which the Fujifilm X-E2 excels is its handling, thanks in no small part to the numerous external controls that make changing the key settings a breeze, especially when holding the camera at eye-level. All in all, the built-in flash isn't as good as the X100T, whose leaf shutter allows its tiny flash to do much more, but it does expose better than most DSLRs for indoor fill. The benefit of the EVF is the same for all EVFs is that you get to preview the actual final result of the image, and the representation on the X-E2 is highly accurate. Now after you've set up your X-E2 this way, you get to go out and shoot with it in fully manual mode.CREDITS: All photographs shared by Kishore Sawh are copyrighted and have been used with permission for SLR Lounge. It drives me nuts shooting a DSLR or LEICA when I can't see my image pop up instantly in the finder after I've shot it — as I do with my X-E2. I feel the future is mirrorless but having night sweats at the possibility of being a social outcast for going ASP-C… ;-). It's easy to move the AF sensor any place in the frame, far better than DSLRs which put all their AF sensors only in the middle of the frame. Until you learn to gain this ‘correct’ exposure via the experience factor, people will flounder around complaining about why their cameras do not ‘work’ properly or how they think they should work.

Although it lacks the "Acros" black and white simulation, it has many others to choose from in monochrome. Do not copy, modify or re-post this article or images without express permission from SLR Lounge and the artist. These three cameras have a lot more in common than you might think, but the X-E2 incorporates the best of both in one mid sized body. This is great for photographers like me that rely on using speedlights and external flashes with the Fuji X system.

I recommend using the shutter speed dial for exposure compensation, or the AEL Lock button in the configuration as shown above. And I know I will learn the Fujifilm eventually, too, and all these issues that I am having will then turn into skill. The Fujifilm X-E2 is such a new tool to me, I haven’t yet learned to use it well, and certainly nowhere near its full potential if there even is such a thing as a camera’s potential. The EVF wasn’t, however, without fault; it has a proximity sensor which it uses to switch it on and off (depending on camera config) and I just felt there were a few too many times where it wouldn’t turn on when I needed it to if my face wasn’t pressed right up against it.Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited.
