I guess i thought it would be more based around the friendship between the neighbors and their insomnia. When I had read 50% of this book I was ready to give up, but then it did start to get interesting and I was fully immersed in the story that was unfolding but lo and behold the book had finished.

Tim was a little more bearable though carried a ton of shameful guilt about his time in Syria and now suffers PTSD as a result. I was drawn into the lives of two primary characters, Mary and Tim, who have trouble sleeping at night and find themselves noticing odd happenings in the neighborhood. Despite my complaints, I did want to see how things wrapped up rather than DNF’ing it, so there was enough intrigue to keep me turning pages.Mary has two young children and is awake through the night, not remembering the last time she fully slept. In the heat of summer in a London suburb, Mary can’t sleep because her new born and toddler won’t let her. An unbelievable story line where an intelligent career woman nearly dies for somebody she meets at 3am in a London park!

I think Mary could be the lead in more books and I’d love to see how the author would continue to evolve her. Unable to sleep at night, Tim, wonders from room to room of his apartment wondering if he will ever be able to live again.It is a well-written multi-POV and well-paced story that had me questioning who I could trust and what was reliable enough to believe.

It is possible that my perspective may be unpopular, but I am convinced that honesty should always be the guiding principle. Although I don't suffer from PTSD, I’m a worrier and often have difficulty getting to sleep because my mind wants to revisit every single negative situation I can imagine. I have liked other books from this author quite a bit more than this, so I look forward to her next one. Mary a mother of two young children and Tim her neighbour think that they see someone being attacked in a flat across the road.
