Publishers Weekly "Action and intrigue are Wheeler's bread and butter, as are stories with the core value of virtue without ambiguity and gratuitous violence, all on display here.

We welcome respectful dialogue related to speculative fiction in literature, games, film, and the wider world. The Druid is an excellent religious secondary world fantasy and the comparison to Lawhead is apt, because in addition to being religious it’s also steeped in Arthuriana, albeit in a peculiarly sidewise manner. As with his other books I will eagerly be waiting for the next installment as I am very hooked on this story. It'll be minor climaxes with limited falling action and no resolution so if it takes a turn I don't like, I'm bailing.

This is a fair choice to make but it meant that the first 2/3 of the story was world building and explanations of the religious and social systems of that world. It was just like Celyn to presume they would be asked, let alone that they’d get to pick their partners. I wasn’t a huge fan of Eilean at first but I warmed up to her, especially because of how she cared about those closest to her and those relationships. The first of your books I read was Storm Glass, which was a kindle recommendation based on my interest in period piece fantasy books.a maston rite in which information is engraved on a tome and then the pages are sealed with metal bands. One of the most curious things about the mastons was their ability to cross from abbey to abbey without horse or wagon. A foundling raised in an abbey, she was entrusted by its imprisoned druid, Mordaunt, with an ancient tome. The good thing is that I cut my teeth on that novel and began to hone my instincts and my process: one night a week; one chapter a week; repeat until done.
