About this deal

I'm a big fan of the Ruth Galloway books, and this book provides a beautifully photographed and evocative visual guide to the landscape of Norfolk which features so strongly in the series. Are they the remains of a local girl who disappeared ten years earlier – or are the bones much older?

It was followed by The Postscript Murders , shortlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger and Bleeding Heart Yard . We were crossing Titchwell Marsh in North Norfolk when Andy (an archaeologist) mentioned that prehistoric people thought that marshland was sacred ground. Griffiths also talks about her family and how they influenced her writing, especially her Aunt Marjorie. In the meantime, when I read the Ruth Galloway series again, this beautiful book will be by my side!uk will use the information you provide on this form to be in touch with you and to provide updates and marketing. Besides being a visual delight, it affirms her wonderful descriptive skill — the landscapes and architecture are just as I (an American who’s never visited Norfolk) envisioned them while reading the series.

Because it's neither land nor sea, but something in-between, they saw it as a bridge to the afterlife; neither land nor sea, neither life nor death.

Norfolk, a land of peaceful broads, marshy fens, sprawling coastline and shady brecks, is the home of Dr Ruth Galloway, forensic archaeologist. Ruth is in London clearing out her mother’s belongings when she makes a surprising discovery: a photograph of her Norfolk cottage taken before Ruth lived there.

Elly Griffiths does a superb job of pointing out the different places in Norfolk where the Galloway series took place and the accompanying photographs made me wish I were there. A place steeped in folklore and history, visibly shaped by the lives of those who have come before, it has become an integral character in Elly Griffiths’ bestselling crime series. A stunning companion to Elly Griffiths’ beloved crime series, the Dr Ruth Galloway Mysteries, and a photographic journey through magical No rfolk. When Ruth’s friend Cathbad sees a vision of the Virgin Mary, in a white gown and blue cloak, in the graveyard next to the cottage he is house-sitting, he takes it in his stride.Elly Griffiths is the bestselling author of the Dr Ruth Galloway Mysteries and the Brighton Mysteries. Her new series featuring Detective Harbinder Kaur began with The Stranger Diaries, which was a Richard and Judy book club pick and won the Edgar Award for Best Novel in the USA. She has won the CWA Dagger in the Library, has been shortlisted five times for the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, and longlisted for the CWA Gold Dagger for The Lantern Men. As the book progresses from spring to winter, Norfolk countryside is shown in a vibrant array of changing colors.
