About this deal

There is a lot of variety when it comes to Mini PCs: various sizes are available and they are designed for various use cases. Cinebench R23 unveiled a multi-core score of 12478, showcasing the AM08 Pro's proficiency in handling multitasking and resource-intensive applications. The single-core score came in at 1602.

The problem it faces is that it’s competing with systems that use either more recent Ryzen designs or the latest Intel 13th gen processors that use DDR5 memory. The DRR4 RAM in this design comes in copious amounts, but the bandwidth on offer is the Achilles heel of this platform, as it reduces the performance of the integrated Radeon RX Vega GPU. GMKtec has a reputation for making good quality small systems that won’t break the bank, and the NucBox M2 is a prime example of precisely that. Some models can even support more via additional HDMI/DisplayPort interfaces. Or even USB-C interfaces. Like the Beelink GT-R which can support up to four displays simultaneously. Network Connectivity Additionally, this ryzen mini pc features five USB 3.0 ports as well as a USB Type-C port for high-speed connectivity of devices. It also features a 2.5 Gigabit ethernet port for lag-free online games. On paper, this looks like a very powerful NUC and a bargain price from Geekom. Based on the 2021 launched Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor, this tiny system comes in a single SKU with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of PCIe 3.0 NVMe storage.

Connectivity — No Thunderbolt

Most mini PCs will also feature a small space to insert a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD. Some larger models may in fact feature spaces for two 2.5-inch drives concurrently. Ryzen Mini PC Video Card Companies such as Beelink and MinisForum are among the main innovators in gaming mini PC’s. Their popular GTR series feature high performance AMD Ryzen based processors with integrated graphics. They are great for gaming as many games are optimised for AMD chipsets. You can for example play Call of Duty Modern Warfare II at good graphics settings at high resolution with ease. Ryzen mini PCs boast high performance in all areas. But are particularly effective in multi-core applications. So if you’re running complex encoding operations, or are simply multitasking, you will really feel the performance of the Ryzen architecture behind you. Whether for office use or gaming, the MinisForum Elitemini B550 Ryzen mini PC delivers outstanding performance. It excels in gameplay with the ability to connect an eGPU, allowing for smooth gameplay of the latest AAA Windows games. The Mini PC for content creation supports dual displays up to 4K 60Hz with its two HDMI ports or a single 8K 60Hz display with the USB 4 Type-C port. It also features USB 3.2 generation 2 ports for peripheral connectivity and the option to connect an external GPU (eGPU) for enhanced graphics performance.

Notably, the M2 chip is far more power efficient than the x86 architecture found in most PCs. In terms of performance to watt, the Apple model will wipe the floor with most competitors, which makes the Mac mini ideal if you value efficiency in terms of both power and thermals. It runs a complete version of macOS and can even handle Windows on ARM using virtualization software like Parallels Desktop. There’s USB-C, which is most often seen at the end of charging cables for modern mobile phones. It facilitates high speed, flexible connection types, with some USB-C ports even being capable of video output. We explore the internal specs of each device, and how they compare with some of the other best mini PCs on the market. As part of this process, we also assess the upgradability of the device - from the options on offer to the ease of creating your perfect mini PC. This includes benchmarking performance of the CPU, GPU, and RAM. We're not necessarily looking for the most powerful mini PC. But we want to see suitable performance relative to a range of uses and budgets. As we can see, choosing a Ryzen over others not only saves money but you also gain the same, if not better performance for the cost. But what can a Ryzen mini PC do? CrystalDiskMark demonstrated impressive read and write speeds, with a read speed of 2800.72 MB/s and a write speed of 2423.33 MB/s. These speeds are again mid-range, fast but by means the fastest for this size and price of the machine.First of all, pretty much every Windows PC you find nowadays will run Windows out of the box. At the time of writing (December 2021), this will most likely be Windows 10. But with Windows 11 recently released, you will slowly see more and more computers adopt it in place of 10. With early access to the silicon, Intel got a 13th Gen NUC out of the door first. But other brands, like Minisforum, are now joining that party.
