Evil Dead Rise Possess Your 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu Let Evil Dead Rise Possess Your 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu

Evil Dead Rise was shot in the anamorphic format with the Arri Alexa Mini LF using Panavision G-, T-Series, Ultra Panatar and Ultra Speed MKII lenses in ARRIRAW (4.5K). A 4K digital intermediate was utilized and the film comes to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in a 2.40:1 HEVC 2160p HDR10 encodement. Disappointingly, this release comes with no bonus features. The only thing supplied is the Movies Anywhere digital code and the film on both 4K and Blu-ray. The Final Assessment Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sullivan and Sutherland, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable. Evil Dead Rise hits all the right horror notes, with ample gore, visceral violence, and jump scares timed at the right moments. The family dynamics in the film are well handled by Cronin and the cast. The passive aggressive criticism between Ellie and Beth, the sibling rivalries between Ellie’s children, and the ultimate love and loyalty that prevails. Starring: Mirabai Pease, Richard Crouchley, Anna-Maree Thomas, Lilly Sullivan, Noah Paul, Alyssa Sutherland, Gabrielle EcholsPlot: What’s it about? Video: How’s it look? Audio: How’s it sound? In Evil Dead Rise, the action moves out of the woods and into the city, and tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sullivan and Sutherland, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable. In 1981 Director Sam Raimi essentially created a genre of film – the horror movie…with a comedic twist. This genre has been played out, but films like the original Evil Dead movies, An American Werewolf in London and so on – all embraced it. Fans of Raimi’s Evil Dead films no doubt know the excitement of watching the hero as he battles the forces of evil – with a chainsaw for a hand. But those films had their time and with 1993’s Army of Darkness, it might be argued that these came to an end. But no, thank you Hollywood, you’ll never let anything die and we got a new chapter in 2013 as well as a television series. And now we’ve got Evil Dead Rise, a film that shares the same name as the aforementioned titles but…that’s about it. Was it worth the wait? Is it more of the same? Or is this just yet another excuse to cash in on an already overdone genre with a familiar title? century fox 4k blu-ray 4k uhd 4k ultrahd action adventure animated animation anime batman blu-ray calibration classic comedy comics denon dirac live disney dolby atmos drama fantasy horror kaleidescape lionsgate marantz monoprice onkyo paramount pioneer rew romance sci-fi scream factory shout factory sony stormaudio subwoofer superhero svs terror thriller true story uhd ultrahd ultrahd 4k universal value electronics warner warner brothers well go usa

Evil Dead Rise reveals Steelbook, 4K and Blu-ray releases

Seems like all the latest entries of beloved horror franchises are taking a holiday. A trip away from home to recharge the batteries if you will. And with Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead being at home in those woods, there’s only one place to head for a break…the city. I don’t need to delve much deeper into the plot as you can already guess what happens next. Ellie gets incidentally transformed into a deadite, and now it’s up to her sister Beth to keep what’s left of the family alive as they try to escape the dilapidated building. Needless to say this is one of the most gruesome, and crazy films in the entire series. I’m a HUGE fan of Sam Raimi’s take on horror comedy, but the 2013 film went in a completely different direction. Instead focusing on the macabre and more brutal body elements of demon possession and the steps to defeat them. I always felt that the 2013 remake was a BRUTAL film gore wise, but Lee Cronin hits the ground running and amps up the gore from level 11, to full on 15 on a scale from 1-10. I’m not exaggerating here, but this one of THE goriest and blood soaked horror films I’ve ever seen. I never let gore get under my skin (even with torture films like Saw), but to its credit, Rise actually got under my skin. We jokingly refer to counting the kills with “gallons of blood” spilt in movies like these, but you’re LITERALLY taking measurements in “swimming pools of blood” here (and no, I’m not exaggerating). For his first big main feature film, Lee Cronin is assisted by Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, and the Raimi brothers in making sure this Evil Dead Risemovie is scary, bloody, and gobs of fun while introducing new characters and settings. Usually, these films take place in a remote cabin with adults looking for a small romantic getaway. With this new sibling successor, the location is transported to a condemned high-rise building in Los Angeles with young kids the primary focus of the ensuing carnage. These elements haven't really been fully explored before in this realm, but Cronin keeps its pacing tight and the horror at an all-time high throughout the movie. EVIL DEAD RISE marks the return to the iconic horror franchise, written and directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground). The film stars Lily Sullivan (I Met a Girl, Barkskins), Alyssa Sutherland (New Gold Mountain, Vikings), Morgan Davies (The End, Storm Boy), Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence) and introducing Nell Fisher (Northspur).

The Steelbook itself is gorgeous, I didn't used to like them when they had no title on the front but this really works in this particular instance. Evil Dead Rise is directed by Lee Cronin, starring Lily Sullivan (“I Met a Girl,” TV’s “Barkskins”) and Alyssa Sutherland (TV’s “New Gold Mountain,” TV’s “Vikings). From here, survival is the word as demonic possession, decapitations, bodily dismemberment, and more gory murders are seen. And if anyone knows how gross the Evil Dead franchise can be in terms of blood, guts, flesh, and muscle - there is no shortage of any of those things on display in Evil Dead Rise. The family dynamic and the three kids are all enjoyable to watch and are not the usual comedic tropes. They all have something a little different to their characters. Things that seem more natural and realistic in this day and age. The gore is practical and fantastic, which will delight the horror hounds completely, and there is never a shortage of it.
