About this deal

James asks Warner lots of questions like why he calls Juliette “love” and if he’s in love with her (which he doesn’t answer). He asks why Warner has the big house with lots of food and hot water. Warner tells him he works for the the Re-establishment. James is terrified. Warner tells him he is also working with the rebels to defeat the Re-establishment, which is punishable by death. Then Warner gets shaky. With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world ... but that's not all he wants with her.

So basically Ignite Me pretty much starts off where Unravel Me leaves off with Juliette getting shot and Omega Point being destroyed. She’s clued in to what has happened and now Juliette becomes even more determined to take down the Reestablishment — at whatever cost — and she needs Warner to do it. In Unravel Me, she largely is learning about her powers and trying to OWN them and is also trying to heal mentally and overcome everything that happened in Shatter Me. In Ignite Me, Juliette stops feeling sorry for herself and goes balls to the walls with wanting to really 100% understand and control her powers for the good of the people. Now, if I’m being honest, there were a few things (mostly small-ish things besides the one I’m going to talk about) that weren’t perfect for me but it was one of those reading situations where it didn’t really matter for me. The heart of the story, my feelings, and just my love for the series/characters made my brain gloss over them. I have no regrets. There you go! That’s what happened in Ignite Me. Hope youenjoyed this recap ofIgnite Me with spoilers.

In the morning Juliette asks Warner why he trusts Delalieu. He tells her the man is his maternal grandfather but they share no affect. Juliette tells everyone that she is in charge now that the Supreme Commander is dead. Everyone salutes her as Warner stands next to her. Juliette tells Kenji that Warner is not the person they all think he is and that he has said he is in love with her. Kenji laughs. He thinks Warner is still toying with her. Warner teams up with Juliette. Adam gets really angry, because he’s an angry person. Juliette gathers a bunch of soldiers and asks them to help her kill the Supreme Commander. They head into battle and win. Warner and Juliette are endgame. what happened in Ignite Me? Juliette is smuggled out of the base and taken to Omega Point. They meet Kenji there. Warner borrows his power. Juliette leaves with Kenji.

Did we miss something on diversity?

Kenji and Juliette board the ship. They get separated and Juliette is no longer invisible. She has to fight a tonne of soldiers, but eventually she finds Sara and Sonya. Warner and his servant, Delaleui, smuggle Juliette out of the compound. Warner takes her to Omega Point which is now nothing but a crater in the ground. They see Kenji there. Warner borrows Kenji’s invisibility power without even touching him. Warner allows Juliette to go with Kenji but gives her a panic button so she can call for help. Spoilery video: Not FULL spoilers bc it’s the end of a series and it JUST came out so I don’t want anything leaked while people are just getting their books! From my phone before bed because I AM LAAAZY so sorry for the bad quality. Warner’s father put a bullet in my body and I can still feel the echoes of it. If I focus, I can relive the exact moment it happened; the pain: so intense, so excruciating; I’ll never be able to forget it.

This allows you to see what Warner is thinking since Shatter Me is told from Juliette’s point of view. It also serves as an interlude between novels since the events of Destroy Me take place after Shatter Me but before Unravel Me. The short answer is Yes! You can skip the novellas. They aren’t necessary at all to understand the main story. Shatter Me was Mafi’s debut novel and was published when she was only 23 years old. The original trilogy went on to be translated into more than 30 languages and sell more than a million copies. Warner arrives and takes Juliette to the army base. He asks the others to come along as well. Everyone but Adam and James go along.

Goodreads Summary:

Afterward, the others start asking Juliette questions about the Supreme Commander, what he looks like and why his last name is different to Warner’s, what his first name is. She says she doesn’t know his first name. Adam says it’s Paris. Warner overhears and thinks Adam is a spy sent to kill him. How else could he know the man’s name? It’s a closely guarded secret. Juliette tells him that Adam and James are his brothers. Kenji and Juliette reunite with the group. Warner then shows up and Adam gets angry. He refuses to help Juliette fight the Re-establishment because of Warner. Adam tells Warner to leave. I actually stand up this time. My eyes are filling fast with tears and I blink and blink but the world is a mess and I want to laugh because all I can think is how horrible and beautiful it is, that our eyes blur the truth when we can’t bear to see it. Warner arrives in record time. He shows obvious concern and affection for Juliette which the others find astonishing but at the same time reassuring. He offers for them to come stay in his private training area on the compound. Reluctantly they agree. Omega Point has been destroyed, and everyone is dead. Sara and Sonya are in the capital. Juliette wants to rescue them and kill Warner’s father.

I’m tired and weak from hunger, but other than a few general aches, I seem to be fine. I’m alive. I’m breathing and blinking and feeling human and I know exactly why. But nothing learned within the novellas is crucial to the plot of the main series. They’ll only provide extra details that make the novels more impactful. IGNITE ME really does ignite all five of your senses. It blows your mind and makes you hungry for more of its amazing characters. It will completely blow your expectations; Tahereh Mafi truly knows how to deliver!" - Teenreads.com I try to move and Warner catches me. I’m off-balance, unsteady; I still feel as though my legs are anchored to this bed and I’m suddenly unable to breathe, seeing spots and feeling faint. Need up. Need out. People want to know about the Supreme Commander. Adam tells them his first name – Paris. Warner gets suspicious because no one is supposed to know his name. Juliette finally reveals that Adam and James are Warner’s brothers. What the novellas do is provide extra insight into the world of Shatter Me. They’re often from a different POV. For instance, Destroy Me, the first novella, is from Warner’s POV. He is the villain of the first novel. Sonya and Sara. They were there too, the healer twins, they helped Warner. They helped him save me because he’s the only one who can touch me now, the only person in the world who’d have been able to transfer their healing power safely into my body. Addictive, intense, and oozing with romance. I'm envious. I couldn't put it down." - Lauren Kate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen series One side effect of this is that throughout the book there are crossed out lines, as if Juliette is writing in a journal and crosses out things she initially wrote, but changed her mind. Warner takes a deep breath. A million more. Right hand over left, spinning the jade ring on his pinkie finger over and over and over and over “It’s over,” he says.
