About this deal

The addition of Double Shot keycaps and a padded wrist rest easily make the K95 RGB Platinum XT the best version yet. Those who are interested in switches other than the three Cherry options offered here will have to look elsewhere. The intuitive and powerful Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software makes it easy to set up sophisticated animated macros and lighting effects for a visually amazing experience. Using Stream Deck software, you can easily program the six dedicated macro keys on the left side of the K95 Platinum XT to perform any number of tasks, from launching common programs and recording clips to performing various chat tasks, changing your in-game voice and so much more. Corsair’s overly complicated software has always been painful to use, but it has gotten better over the last couple years.

Corsair has kept the rubber surface to its wrist rests since the early days of the original Vengeance K70. While other keyboard companies have partnered with switch makers to design their own mechanical switches or experiment with optical and / or analogue actuation tech, Corsair has stuck with tried-and-true Cherry MX switches.

My main complaint is that, rather than strong magnets,it attaches via long plastic clips under the keyboard, which feel like they could snap off after years of use if you aren’t careful. mechanical switches, 18 G keys and RGB color per-key backlighting for unprecedented customization and control.

so you’re stuck with last-gen transfer speeds, but it works great for connecting a gaming headset or mouse. The customizable LightEdge bar adds an extra touch of visual flair that really takes lighting to the next level, though it’s not as unique a feature as it once was.The most obvious change here is the fact that the Corsair K95 RGB Platinum is much narrower, thanks to the number of macro keys being reduced to just six. The cable on the K95 RGB Platinum XT is braided but thick, stiff, and filled with bends from packaging.

Interestingly, they’re not made for routing the peripheral’s own cable, but keeping your headset wire (or anything plugged into the dedicated USB passthrough) out of the way.The K95 RGB Platinum follows in the footsteps of Corsair's K70 RGB Rapidfire keyboard in its focus on speed. The feel isn’t quite as cushy as the standalone HyperX wrist rest, but it’s a big upgrade from the rubber or rigid soft-touch plastic of most bundled wrist rests. Fortunately, creating macros is a lot easier, and CUE gives you a ton of tools to make custom keystrokes.

Two of the three options --MX Speed and MX Brown-- have been upgraded for even greater reliability, with the promise to stand up to 100 million keystrokes. If gaming is your main priority, I would definitely steer away from the MX Blue switches, as much as I like them for typing tasks. It features a 1000 Hz polling rate, full n-key rollover, and anti-ghosting to make sure that it tracks your inputs accurately every time. Unfortunately Corsair’s proprietary Cappelix LEDs aren’t in the mix here, but even so the light show is impressive. Some might not like this lesser amount of macro keys, but be honest – you’ll actually be able to reach them this time around. In its latest iteration, the K95 RGB Platinum XT adds premium Double Shot keycaps, integrated Elgato Stream Deck software support for the six macro keys on the left side and an appreciated padded wrist rest. The K95 RGB PLATINUM XT is not only high-quality and vibrant, but it comes with an extra comfy palm rest to boot!
